Syria – the Syrian air defense system Pechora-2M is able to shoot down US missiles

DAMASCUS (Reuters) – Syria’s air defense forces have announced a state of high alert in the ranks of the Syrian forces, which have been prepared in a state of readiness and attention in anticipation of the possibility of Syria being hit by US missile strikes, media outlets said.
The Syrian Air Defense Forces have various weapons and rocket-propelled grenades, including the so-called Bechora. An image of one of the Syrian Air Force’s “Pechora-2M” launchers was recently posted on the Internet.

In total, 12 Pechora-2M air defense systems are currently in the possession of the Syrian Air Defense Forces and all have been upgraded with the help of Russia, according to the newspaper Rosiskaya Gazeta.

During the modernization process, the Pichora-2M system acquired new equipment and technologies, including digital technology, which greatly enhanced the capabilities of Pechora, allowing it to destroy all types of air targets including hidden aircraft.

The upgraded Bechora-2M system can destroy targets flying at 1000 meters per second at a distance of 28 kilometers and at a height of 20 to 25 kilometers.

The Bechura-2M is fitted with the MZ-T-8021, which can travel at up to 60 kilometers an hour and can quickly move away from the interceptor launch to avoid retaliatory strikes by aircraft owners or missiles.
